Vilene G700 fusible interfacing // Vlieseline medium weight woven interlining
Vilene G700 medium weight fusible interfacing. This is perfect to add some thickness to light/medium weight fabrics for dressmaking and bag making. The interfacing is woven and has a lovely drape to it. This means once fused to the fabric you are working with the fabric does not go stiff but rather retains its drape/shape. I tested many interfacings when I started my business and this was by far the best.
This is the only interfacing I use to make all my bags. It works brilliantly with Vilene H630 fusible fleece. I use the two together for nearly every bag I make. First I add the G700 interfacing and then the H630 fleece on top.
You can buy Vilene H630 low loft fusible fleece here.
Vilene's instructions on how to use the interfacing:
- Like all interfacings made by Vilene, the interfacing is always cut in a lengthwise direction, and thereby follows the grain of the fabric.
- Place the interfacing with the coated side on the wrong side of the fabric. Cover with a damp cloth and press each area for about 12 seconds, without moving the iron.
- Iron setting: Cotton.
Allow the pieces to cool flat for about 30 minutes, so that the adhesive can set properly.
When I use the interfacing for my own bags I do not use a damp cloth but rather spray some water from my iron and then hold the iron over each section of the interfacing (wrong side ) for about 10 seconds.
The interfacing is sold per metre up to 5 metres. Please change the quantity to what you require. If you order more than 1 metre the interfacing will be cut in a continuous length.
